New SISI Volunteer and Communication Officer

The Findhorn Nairn and Lossie Fishery Trust are delighted to welcome Vicky Hilton as the new volunteer and communication officer for the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative (SISI). Vicky will be based in the FNLFT Office at Logie Steading  and she will lead on the  delivery of the Volunteer Management and Communications Plans for the project.

The Scottish Invasive Species Initiative (SISI) is a partnership project to encourage communities to tackle invasive non-native species such as Japanese knotweed, Giant Hogweed and American mink in their local areas It is funded through a grant of £1.59 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund and also supported by Scottish Natural Heritage and Aberdeen University. This ambitious project covers over an area of 29,500 km2 in northern Scotland, encompassing ten Fisheries Trusts/District Salmon Fisheries Boards and seeks to combat the impacts of invasive non-native species on fresh water biodiversity.  Vicky will be at the heart of the project team helping to develop volunteer networks work within local communities to manage priority species such as giant hogweed, Japanese knotweed and American mink.
